Our recommendations for excellent meals and entertainment in the area are:
- Le Casse-Croute A wonderful variety of food, and in Pouzauges, right on your way to le Puy du Fou, the world’s best themepark.
- La Morlière Restaurant with lovely views of Lac Rochereau (one of many fishing lakes in the Vendee), a tasteful interior, and excellent menus.
- Le Clemenceau Visit Tim and Ali at their English bar in Mouilleron-en-Pareds. Regular events such as quiz nights, Chippy Fridays, curry nights, and new this year: Happy Hour from 4PM to 6PM every day this summer.
There is a small supermarket and a bakery in the next village of Saint-Prouant. Find large French supermarket chains in nearby cities like Chantonnay (12km-SuperU, E.LeClerc, Lidl), Les Herbiers (17km-E.LeClerc), La Châtaigneraie (20km-SuperU, Intermarché, Lidl) or Pouzauges (12km-SuperU.)
For cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, toys, art supplies, outdoor dishes, pet supplies, batteries or anything you might need during your holiday, we recommend ‘Action’ in Chantonnay. Lidl is conveniently located right across the car park. Both shops offer much cheaper alternatives for your daily needs than the large supermarkets.
